The boys varsity tennis team managed to secure a win against Edison, and raised the hopes of a promising season for the team.

Pumped and ready, the boys hit the courts and managed to come out victorious with a score of 12-6 against the chargers. Well prepared and all the more wiser from the last games, the boys took from what they had lost and pushed forward to break free of the small slump they’d fallen into.

Though the beginning sets started off shaky with a small lead for Edison, there was plenty of room for the boys to surge forward and take control of  the court.

Doubles team Andrew Nguyen (’16), and Johnny Luu (’15) won their matches alongside singles player Eric Nguyen (’16). But the entire team as a whole pushed through, refusing to give the Chargers an inch on their courts as they played smart moves and landed powerful serves.

“I think the game was absolutely amazing,” said Andrew Nguyen (’16). “My team pulled through and showed tons of improvement, and I think this is a fresh start to the season that we needed before continuing on into the next few matches.”

The second and third sets managed to push the boys through and put the pressure onto Edison as the games continued to add up.

The doubles and singles teams pulled through in their matches, bringing the score closer and closer to the Barons favor until it was an assured win for FVHS. The doubles and singles players from Edison put on a tough battle, but the Barons managed to triumph on their home courts and left no room for Edison to come through with a victory.

“I felt very proud of the overall outcome of today’s game. I saw improvement within all of the team members physically and mentally,” said Brandon Nguyen (’15). “It’s important that we keep at this level of tennis and to play our hearts out every ball we hit.”
