Students around campus help represent the clothing brand Serengetee in efforts to raise money for charities and people in need by buying clothes that are specially designed in areas that the money goes towards.

Serengetee is a global apparel company that gets fabric from artisans all around the world. Each pattern is paired up with a cause located in the same region of purchase. Their motto is “Wear the world, change the world.”

To become a campus representative for Serengetee, students applied online on their website, which asked questions such as why they were interested in Serengetee and how they would advertise the apparel.

Kayleen Amimoto (’16), a current campus rep, waited three weeks for her application to be processed. Her duties as a campus rep include wearing the apparel to school, answering questions about her apparel from her peers and posting and liking pictures of Serengetee’s apparel.

“I plan to wear my Serengetee products on Wednesdays which is known as #WearTheWorldWednesdays and try to advertise for people to buy products by offering the coupon codes that [representatives] receive,” said Amimoto.

She ordered a package and received coupons, flyers, stickers and a free Serengetee shirt for a total of $15, shipping included.

Being a serengetee rep isn’t paid, but I receive the satisfaction of advertising a company that gives its profits right back to the community and the people who will benefit from them,” said Amimoto.

Serengetee reps can be a campus rep for only one term, but even after their term is completed, they can still help the brand by wearing Serengetee products and posting on social media platforms.

Campus representatives can be from any grade level and span all across the country.

“I recently ordered a shirt with a pocket from Fuji, Japan. When I’m browsing the different pocket designs there are, it tells me where part of my purchase is going to. Part of the profit from the shirt I just purchased is going to help relief from the Japanese earthquake and tsunami that occurred a couple years back,” said Amimoto.

Even after the term for Serengetee campus represntatives is over, the rewards and benefits stay relevant. Amanda Lee (’16) has already finished her term, but she still supports Serengetee through the benefits she receives.

“Being a [representative] for me was very rewarding because I get to learn about this amazing company that gives back to charities. I’m standing with 30 plus new followers [on Instagram] and shirts that everyone compliments whenever I #WearTheWorld,” said Lee.
