Holiday recipes: All things peppermint

Are you in need of some peppermint treats? Well, here are some quick and easy recipes to satisfy your hunger this holiday season!

Peppermint Hot Chocolate

Ingredients:

  • hot chocolate mix
  • 1/4 tsp. peppermint extract (to taste)
  • 1 cup milk
  • mini marshmallows or whipped cream
  • crushed candy canes

Directions:

  1. Microwave milk in a mug for 1 to 1.5 minutes. Add the hot chocolate mix to milk according to the package.
  2. Top with marshmallows or whipped cream and crushed candy canes.

Peppermint Brownies

Ingredients:

  • brownie mix
  • 1 tsp. peppermint extract (to taste)
  •  crushed candy canes
  • 4 oz. dark chocolate
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

Directions:

  1. Take your brownie mix and add the peppermint extract and the ingredients according to the package and bake according to the package.
  2. While the brownies are baking, heat the heavy cream in a saucepan until bubbling. Add the chocolate and wait one minute before stirring.
  3. Spread over cooled brownies and sprinkle crushed candy canes.

Pretzel Peppermint Bark

Ingredients:

  • 6 oz. milk chocolate
  • 8 oz. white chocolate
  • 1 cup crushed pretzelspretzels
  • crushed candy canes
  • 1/4 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 8″ baking pan
  • aluminum foil

Directions:

  1. Line baking pan with aluminum foil.
  2. Microwave milk chocolate until melted, stirring at 15 second intervals. Once melted, stir in peppermint extract.
  3. Spread chocolate into baking pan and sprinkle 2/3 cup of pretzels into chocolate (Make sure to hit pan on the table to remove air bubbles). Let it set in the refrigerator for 20 minutes.
  4. Microwave white chocolate until melted, stirring at 15 second intervals. Spread over the milk chocolate once it has completely set.
  5. Sprinkle remaining crushed pretzels and candy canes on top and place into refrigerator until completely set.
