Baron News’ top stories of 2015

by Linh Nguyen, Staff Writer

As 2016 kicks off, Baron News takes a look back at our most-viewed stories of 2015:

1

5. We start off this countdown with a rare occurrence that had happened at Fountain Valley High School (FVHS). Angie Vu (’18) was welcomed as the only female on this year’s FVHS wrestling team. She is currently the third female wrestler on the team in the history of FVHS and encourages more girls to join.

4. Next up is a feature article on Craig Johnson. This article explored Johnson’s fulfilling life full of action and romance as he talked about his marijuana bust and how he met his wife. Johnson’s life could be the plot of a new movie coming soon.  Readers learned that there is always more to the people we see every day than their jobs.

3. We are almost halfway through the countdown and we have a cooking star next on our list. Another feature article made it into our list of top posts. The article features a young chef by the name of Sean Le (’19), a MasterChef Junior participant, who began holding a spatula the same time he started holding a pencil.  Despite “standing at a tall 4 feet and 11 inches”, his food sure seems to pack a punch. Readers learned that everyone has their own talents and should explore to find those hidden talents.

2. We are getting close to the end of our 2015 countdown. Next up is the controversial piece of whether students should have the right to vote for their Associated Student Body (ASB) executive board. Many opinions surfaced and we learned that the only way to make a difference or an impact in the community is to speak up and voice your thoughts.

1. Last, but certainly not least, our most viewed article of 2015 with 72,064 views was the “Bell Week poster sparks debate”. This was not a total surprise since the video and this article went viral. Once again, students took their opinions to Twitter and other online platforms. From this event, we learned the value of being cautious and considerate of what we say and do, and how it could affect others in the process.
