Over the summer, Fountain Valley High School (FVHS) and other schools in the Huntington Beach Union High School District got new fields. Along with the fields, the tennis courts at FVHS also got resurfaced. Throughout the summer, many kids that passed by the school saw that the field near the tennis courts has been under construction. The new upgraded playing grounds provides the school with a nicer and more updated look.

“Eight courts were in the worst conditions. We need to have the best facilities to get ready for our season. Tennis courts and equipment are the most important thing for tennis. We resurfaced our courts more than 4 years back! It was about time to take care of it!” said Harshul Patel, the head boys and girls tennis coach at FVHS.

Field hockey, who practice and play their home games on the turf were also pleased with the new turf.

“All of the other schools have turf so they always had an advantage over us when we played on their turf because we only played on grass,” said Junior Varsity Coach Nancy Mendez. “The turf is also flat so there are no unexpected bounces from divots that the grass had and their stops and hits are much stronger.”

The new renovations will make it safer for students to perform on. Hopefully with new courts and fields, the Barons can perform better during practices and games.
