Christmas is right around the corner and the spirit of the holidays would not be the same without the joyful spirit of giving and helping others. There are several ways to get involved and help out this season on campus, so let’s get into it!

It’s the season of giving, so lend a helping hand to the Wounded Warriors club on campus as they assemble care packages for soldiers overseas this holiday season. All of the items needed for the care packages can be easily found at a local 99 Cents Only store or Dollar Tree. All the items needed will be linked onto all of the Baron Banner social media outlets, so be on the lookout. Bring in the items by Dec. 16 in room B3 to help a worthy cause for the people who deserve it most.

Another great way of celebrating the season of giving is by donating food to the Peer Assistant Leadership’s (PAL) winter break food drive. There are times where some students’ only meals are the food in the cafeteria. Donating food will help these students make sure that they won’t spend their Christmas time hungry. For more information ask your English teachers on ways that you can help out.

What else is a better way to start off your Christmas Break with the annual winter KIWIN’S club social on Dec. 18 from 2-8 p.m.. This social has numerous festive activities such as packaging children’s books to donate to the Pediatric Department at Fountain Valley’s regional hospital, Christmas caroling around the neighborhood to raise money for the Live2Learn program and meeting new friends. Get into the family Christmas spirit with your local ohana!

The chilly weather is perfect to visit the Westminster Ice Rink. What a more perfect timing than to support Fountain Valley Girl’s League and Boy’s League during their ice skating fundraiser on Dec. 17. The admission ticket is $12 at the door and $10 presale by a board member.

Chow down on some good food with great company at American Heart Association’s’ Souplantation dine out on Dec. 16.

Be the change you wish to see in the world and help Arts of Hearts club as they assemble care packages for Operation Christmas Child. Operation Christmas Child is a non-profit organization that gives kids all around the world that live in poverty a gift for Christmas. Stop by room B15 on Dec. 16 to help assemble the packages.

Make a difference this season alongside Fountain Valley’s beloved clubs and share the gift of joy!
