The end of yet another season of girl’s soccer for the barons produced many celebrations and points to improve on. The girls finished the season with an overall record of 12-9-2, but only a record of 2-7-1 in league.

Although they did not make California Interscholastic Federation (CIF), there are many highlights and good things that came from the season.

“We were able to develop a strong relationship with teammates during the season. All the time spent together playing traveling and working out brought us closer together.” said senior Rachel Roberts.

Throughout the season, the team showed great teamwork and played hard until the very end, showing a lot of resilience and perseverance. They fought hard every game and many of the games they lost were only by a single goal.

“The hardest match was our game against Edison. We fought hard the whole game only to lose by a single goal” said Roberts.

Led by senior captains Marissa Lynch, Ally Bebout, Brianna Guintoli, the Barons showed exquisite skill along with the many goals scored throughout the season.

There are still many aspects of their game to improve in order to potentially win league next year or make it into CIF, but this year leaves the girls hopeful for the future.

“For the next years, I think that the program should stress togetherness and to create bonds between teams. There has always been a huge separation between freshman, JV and varsity teams and I think that closing that gap could help the program a lot.” said Roberts.

Moving forward, the current team will continue to train with goals of doing better next year.
