In the senior night game against the Edison Chargers, the boys made a valiant effort but indefinatly lost with the score of 0-3.

The first set started off shaky with errors on the Fountain Valley side. Great saves by senior Ben Minch and swings by senior Brandon Crowe got the fans in the bleachers cheering. Though the boys battled hard for the points, the ending score was 13-25.

“We need to keep a high level energy. A lot of the time, we’re up and down. We’ll get a big play and we’ll cheer. Then the next point we’ll lose and then we go back into our shell,” said senior Cameron Nakashima.

Though the second set began rough, blocks by junior Justin Loy and digs from senior Cameron Nakashima built up the momentum for both the court and the bleachers. Points went back and forth between the Barons and the Chargers, but the Barons continued to push forward. Memorable swings were made by seniors Jared Laudenback and Alvin Nguyen. Though the boys worked hard, the close set ended with the score of 24-26.

“Overall as a team, we played a collective effort, but there were a lot of tips and digs that we should have gotten to,” said senior Henry Nguyen.

The Barons started the third set with dedication as they stayed in a close match against the Chargers. At 7-11, a touch on the block by senior Antony Vu, saves by Nakashima and junior Marcelo Ponce, and a final kill by Minch left the Baron fans jumping in joy. Though many great aces, saves and kills made the last home game of the season memorable, the game ended with a score of 21-25.

“[The last home game] is bittersweet. It’s been fun coaching [ the volleyball program ]. I love this school, I love that it’s a great family, and I love being a big part of this… and I enjoyed this,” said Coach John la Rusch.
