DIY: Instagram Food

Want to post all those Instagram food photos but don’t have a lot of money to spend? Well, here are three of the many trending foods on Instagram that are both affordable and easy to make.

Unicorn Toast

Materials:

    • Bread
    • Unsalted butter
    • Food dye in red, yellow, green, and blue
  • White, shredded cheese

Instructions:

    1. Divide the cheese into 4 bowls and add 2-3 drops of food coloring in each one.
    1. Spread the butter over two pieces of bread.
    1. Heat the pan and place one buttered bread on it.
    1. After 2 minutes, place the cheese horizontally on the bread and add the other piece of bread on top with buttered side facing up.
    1. Grill until golden brown and flip to the other side. Continue grilling it until the cheese is melted.
  1. Place the grilled cheese on a dish and serve.

Mermaid Toast

Ingredients:

    • cream cheese
    • food dye (any color you want)
    • 1 piece of toast
    • Optional: cut fruit

Steps:

    1. Split the cream cheese into bowls for each of the color you want to make.
    1. Add 1-2 drops of the food dye to the cream cheese. You can add more if you want the color to be darker.
    1. Spread the cream cheese however you want onto the toast.
  1. Optional: You can chop up fruits such as strawberries to add to your toast.

California Sushi Burrito

Materials:

    • Seaweed
    • Imitation crab
    • 1 Cucumber
    • 1 Avocado
  • Cooked rice

Instructions:

    1. Cut an avocado into small pieces and a cucumber into long strips.
    1. Shred the imitation crab into long strips.
    1. Get a towel and fold it into a rectangle. Place plastic wrap over and put the seaweed on top.
    1. Wet your hands with water and place the rice on the seaweed leaving an inch of seaweed left.
    1. Place the imitation crab, cucumber, and avocado on top of the rice at the bottom of the seaweed.
    1. Start to roll, using the towel and plastic wrap to shape the burrito. Once you near the end, wet it with water and roll it all the way to the end.
  1. Cut the sushi burrito in half and serve.
