Girls’ varsity tennis suffered a 3-15 defeat this Tuesday in their last preseason game against San Clemente High School.

“Today was a tough match for all of us,” said senior singles player Ivy Tran. “We’ve played San Clemente [before] and every time we fell short in the end. They were very competitive and were very experienced but [have] helped us learn throughout these games.”

Exceptional performances were displayed by doubles No. 3 freshman Nghi Trinh and sophomore Joanne Tran, winning two of their three sets and senior Charisse Vu and sophomore Kaylee Tran managed to win a set. Although the team failed to secure a win in the end, the defeat helped each individual member evaluate themselves in preparation for the upcoming season.

“I would say that although San Clemente was a strong team, I definitely felt that I personally could have pushed to perform better,” said sophomore Jasmine Nguyen. “San Clemente helped me prepare for my next match as I would like to incorporate a better game plan and strategy against my next opponents.”
