Last night, the boys volleyball team played against the Oilers in a 0-3 match.

In the first set, the Barons came out to a shaky start with shanks, blocks and side-outs, to quickly put them down 0-4. The serves went back and forth with the Oilers having an advantage over the Barons. In a quick play, sophomore James Templin saved a shanked ball, allowing senior Marcelo Ponce to place a point-scoring tip in the middle of the Oilers. The first set ended with the score 12-25.

The second set didn’t seem to hold hope as more hitting errors, miss serves and nets were occuring. The score was 0-5 before the Oilers lost the serve. Kills by sophomore Anton Pham and Ponce help the Barons score. However, the set ended with the score of 16-25.

There came more promise with the third set as the Barons eventually caught up with a score of 4-5. Blocks and kills from seniors Justin Loy and Ponce increased the spirit of the team. Though there was some good plays, it wasn’t enough to win the set, ending with the score of 15-25.
