Explore the art of manga at FVHS

The graphic novel section of the library may not seem to offer much at a first glance, but with a closer look, it holds both popular and unpopular titles. Here’s a look at the more well known titles, most with their own anime and live action adaptations. 

“Fullmetal Alchemist” by Hiromu Arakawa

After attempting the forbidden act of transmuting a human and losing their bodies, brothers Edward and Alphonse Elric are on the hunt to find a way to find the mythical philosopher’s stone to get their bodies back. But with a vengeful Isvalan, Edward being “a dog of the military”, and with homunculus who want to use the brothers for their experiment, what will it take for them to get back to their original bodies?

“My Hero Academia” by Kouhei Horikoshi

Izuku Midoriya has dreamed of being a Hero one day even if he himself does not have a power or Quirk to call his own. But one day, after saving the school bully, he is bestowed a Quirk from the greatest Hero, All Might. Finally in view of his dream, he attends U.A. High School, where he trains to become a superhero. But with the threat from the League of Villains, will he and his classmates be able to make it that far?

“Death Note” by Tsugumi Oba

When Light Yagami picks up the Death Note, a notebook with the power to kill people just by writing their name while envisioning their face, he discovers a newfound power. With this, Light nicknames himself as the “God of the new world,” a world that is free of criminals and evil people. Yet, there is a detective named L who will stop at nothing to stop this serial killer. Filled with twists and turns in this battle of wits, who will win and survive to see the end of the day?

“Fruits Basket” by Natsuki Takaya

After leaving her family, Tohru Honda becomes homeless and lives in a tent. That is until the family of her popular classmate, Yuki Soma welcome her into their home. But they’re no ordinary family. Each member is possessed by one of the spirits of the Chinese zodiac. This curse transforms the family members into their respective animals when they are weak, under stress, embarrassed, or hugged by a member of the opposite sex. After a while, Tohru is a positive influence on the family, and will she be able to do anything to break their curse?

“Naruto” by Masashi Kishimoto

Naruto Uzumaki, a young ninja, dreams of becoming the Hokage, the leader of the village. When he finds out about his true nature, being the host of a fox beast, Nine-Tails, he soon becomes a ninja. Naruto, along with Sasuke and Sakura, form Team 7 under Kakashi Hatake and perform a variety of tasks for the people in order to further their ninja training.
