On Tuesday, varsity girls’ soccer went head to head with Woodbridge High School, ultimately dominating with a final score of 2-0 in their third shutout of the season.

In the first quarter, Woodbridge was forced into the defensive, with the Barons gaining two goals by its end. The next quarter of the game was fiercely fought, with the ball being passed back and forth in the center of the field for the most part. Neither side were able to gain a clear lead yet, the score was still 2-0 for the majority of the second quarter and remained that way through to the game’s end.

However, the Barons consistently made several close shots and were able to keep the ball far from their side of the field. Senior Samantha Escobar, who led the midfield, controlled the match tempo and consistently provided the offense with goal scoring opportunities. Other key players included Lacy Ruston and Alyssa Rubio, both of whom scored goals.

“This year, a lot of us are working really hard and I think that together as a team, this year we’re doing a lot better and we’re all super close which helps our chemistry and I think that’s why we’re performing so well” said Rubio of the team.

Currently, in CIF-SS ranking, the Barons are #2 in Division II.
