On Tuesday, the Fountaom Valley varsity girls’ soccer team played Marina High School, losing with a score of 1-3.

From the start, the match was tense, with the ball being passed back and forth to each side. The Barons gave a goal early and were unable to get back into the game. At 29 minutes left in the quarter, the Vikings were up by one. Fountain Valley continued to struggle their with defense as Marina scored another goal nine minutes later. Things started to improve for the Barons towards the end of the first quarter as they scored a goal with 11 minutes remaining. They kept up with improved defense.

In the second quarter, the barons continued to play well. They kept Marina from scoring several times and even made some close shots of their own. With 32 minutes remaining, the Barons were awarded a penalty kick but were unable to score. However, Marina ultimately dealt the final blow and scored their third goal with 16 minutes left in the game.

Come watch the team play the last game of the season on February 4 against Newport Harbor High School.
