For junior Kelly Pham, a small interest in YouTube developed into an active hobby of editing, planning and recording. Whether she’s posting a get-ready-with-me or a week of outfits, Pham’s trendy and fun personality radiates through the screen.

Her first viral video, with over 800 thousand views, brings you back to middle school days where slime mixing was the biggest trend.

“That’s when everything started and motivated me to continue on,” Pham said.

Seeing progress with her channel, Pham was excited to continue filming videos. She started filming other videos like Brandy Melville clothing hauls and saw better results. Now, Pham maintains a channel with over 15 thousand subscribers.

Despite her love for YouTube, it’s been difficult to handle school and extracurriculars while keeping up with her social media account.

“Any free time I have I [try] to film or edit and [try] my best to be active,” Pham explains.

Her content ranges from lifestyle to fashion, usually following the latest trends and styles along the way. Many of her videos include the commentary of other FVHS students. Don’t be surprised to see those classic brick walls with blue lockers of the FVHS campus in the background of her videos.

Pham plans on keeping her passion for Youtube on the sideline in the future.

“I’m not sure if I would do it as a career,” Pham said.

She wants other aspiring high school Youtubers to know to just try it out and to not let any negativity weigh you down.

“Just do it because in the end it doesn’t matter and you are the only one that can let something so small affect you,” Pham said.

Tips from Pham:

  • Be motivated, consistent and patient.
  • Have appealing thumbnails to draw people into your videos.
  • Post content that you specialize in and genuinely love doing.
  • Keep a schedule on what time to do school work or when to film.
