How to have summer at home during COVID-19

Even though summer is here, we’re still in the middle of a global pandemic and must maintain social distancing and wear masks to combat COVID-19. Instead of going out, here are some things you can do at home!

  1. Clean or rearrange your room.

An easy way to pass the time and change your scenery is to redecorate your room. Order some decor online or search through your garage for old items to spice up your room. While rearranging your room is a fun activity, it can actually change your mood completely, according to an article by Psychology Today. A new atmosphere can be a wonderful change!

2. FaceTime/Zoom call your friends.

Since it’s currently safest not to hang out with friends physically, communicate with your friends through video chatting services. Use Zoom to change the background of your meeting to make it feel as if you are on a beach sipping on coconut water or are in front of the Golden Gate Bridge. 

3. Have a movie night with popcorn/snacks.

Plan a movie night at home! Tell your family ahead of time and prepare snacks to add to the movie theater experience. Plus, you’re doing your wallet a favor by not purchasing overpriced snacks from the movie theater. Find your favorite movie on a streaming service or rent it online. You can also have a Netflix Party with your friends!

4. Have a water balloon fight in the backyard.

Don’t have a pool? No problem! Get some water balloons, fill them with water, throw on your swimsuit on and have a battle in your yard. Gather up your siblings or family members and have a blast in the sun.

5. Order takeout and eat at home.

Try to see if your favorite restaurant has a takeout or delivery option instead of dining out. That way, you can enjoy your favorite food in the comfort of your own home. 

6. Have a fashion show and try on some outfits

If you’re feeling bored and have always wanted to change your style, now’s the time! Search through your closet and prepare some fabulous outfits. Don’t be afraid to try them on and pretend you’re on the runway. Use TikTok and other social media apps for inspiration.
