Update Nov. 7, 2020, 6:50 p.m.: Steel holds her lead with 6,973 votes for the 48th Congressional District. Min currently leads by 12,971 votes and Nguyen is still ahead with 17,505 votes.

Update Nov. 6, 2020, 7:05 p.m.: According to the New York Times, Steel is currently ahead by 6,191 votes for the 48th Congressional District. Representing the 37th District, Min is holding his lead by 13,492 votes. Representing the 72nd District, Nguyen is still ahead, now by 16,905 votes.

Election day has arrived—and the results are in. Here are the outcomes for the local elections in Orange County, including Fountain Valley, Westminster and Huntington Beach. 

As of the time of publication, Republican Michelle Steel is in a narrow lead for the House of Representatives seat for the 48th Congressional district against the Democrat incumbent Harley Rouda.

Ninety-eight percent of votes have been reported and Steel is currently ahead by 4,774 votes, according to the New York Times. The 48th Congressional district includes the cities of Fountain Valley, Huntington Beach and Costa Mesa, parts of Westminster and other cities in Orange County. 

For state Senate, Democrat Dave Min is currently in the lead by 16,467 votes, representing the 37th Senate district, against the Republican incumbent John Moorlach. The 37th Senate district represents parts of Huntington Beach, the city of Costa Mesa and more cities in Orange County.

For the 72nd district of State Assembly, Republican Janet Nguyen has the lead with 15,753 votes against the Democrat challenger Diedre Nguyen. This assembly district includes the cities of Westminster, Fountain Valley, Huntington Beach and Garden Grove. 

Two seats were up for reelection on the Huntington Beach Union High School Board of Trustees. Incumbents Susan Henry and Michael Simons are leading against four other candidates.

Other local school districts in Fountain Valley, Westminster and Huntington Beach also had seats up for reelection.

FVHS teacher Steve Schultz and incumbent Jeanne Galindo are in the lead to fill two open seats for the Fountain Valley Unified School District Board of Trustees.

David Johnson is in the lead for Westminster School District Board of Trustees to fill one open seat. Incumbent Bridget Kaub is leading for the one open seat on the Huntington Beach City School District Board of Trustees.

The city councils of Fountain Valley, Westminster and Huntington Beach had multiple seats open this year.

On the Fountain Valley City Council, Glenn Grandis and Ted Bui are currently in the lead for two open seats.

In Westminster, Carlos Manzo is ahead for member of city council in district two and Kimberly Ho is ahead for district three.

There are three open seats in the Huntington Beach City Council, and Tito Ortiz, Dan Kalmick and Natalie Moser are in the lead to fill these seats.
