Full disclosure: Anneliese Duong is a Girl Scout.

The approach of spring signifies the return of many things: plants, St. Patrick’s Day and of course, Girl Scout cookies.

Every year, the Girl Scouts of America sell their special brand of cookies to fundraise for their program and encourage girls to learn how to be entrepreneurs. By selling cookies, they explore goal setting, decision making, money management and business ethics.

Each box costs $5, and they come in a variety of flavors!

While everyone may have their favorite, such as the crunchy and delicious Thin Mints cookies, or the layered caramel and coconut flaked Caramel deLites cookies, there are more that are worth a try!

Lemonades 10/10

Lemonades are an underrated classic. While they have been around as long as the Thin Mint, it has never quite picked up in popularity the same way Thin Mints have.

Lemonades provide the perfect blend of sweet, tangy and not too sweet or sour. The cookie is essentially a shortbread cookie with a layer of lemonade frosting on the bottom, which combines two simple flavors in a delightful way.

The cookies are also designed to look like lemon slices, which accentuates the aesthetic of the cookie. However, you might dislike the artificial lemon flavor of the frosting. For us, the artificialness was a good compliment to the plain shortbread side.

Adventurefuls 8/10

One of the new additions this year, Adventurefuls is a chocolate-brownie-caramel mix, perfect for anyone who has a sweet tooth. The package displays a cute cream color and instantly draws you into the sweet, homey feel of the cookie.

The ooey-gooey caramel crème layered in the center of the cookie doesn’t overpower the other components. The mix of chocolate, caramel, sea salt and brownie taste is a wonderful blend. While this cookie can sound overly sweet, it isn’t and provides a nice treat even for the smallest sweet tooth.

To up the level of satisfaction, put these cookies into the freezer.

Toast-Yay 9/10

Another new addition this year is the Toast-Yay. This cookie is a French-Toast-flavored cookie. The cookie is essentially a shortbread cookie with a thin layer of frosting on the back.

If you’re a fan of Cinnamon Toast Crunch, this cookie is the one for you. As soon as you open the vibrant green package, you are greeted with a strong whiff of cinnamon goodness. The cookie delivers a similar feeling to the cereal with its flavors providing a mesh of cinnamon and sugar without being overly sweet.

There is also no powder like Cinnamon Toast Crunch, providing a similar same French Toast flavor without the mess.

Peanut Butter Patties 8/10

Peanut butter goodness! Filled to the brim with a creamy peanut butter filling, the chocolate encapsulated cookie does more than that. If you’re a fan of anything chocolate-and-peanut-butter-flavored, this is the cookie for you.

Those allergic to peanut butter will have to miss out on these.

Even if you stick with Thin Mint and or Caramel deLites with your next purchase, any one of these four cookies are a must-try in your lifetime. To try any of these cookies, reach out to your local Girl Scouts!
