The Fall Festival (Fall Fest) will be held on Sat., Oct. 29, this year. The Fountain Valley High School (FVHS) Vocal Music Program hosts this annual event and presents a large variety of activities and foods for all visitors to partake in. The multitude of clubs and organizations present on FVHS campus also organize attractions for the festival.

Here are some insights into what a few clubs are planning:

FVHS Vocal Music Program

“The Vocal Music Program has a lot planned for Fall Fest,” senior Donovan Doan, one of the Vocal Music Program’s Choir Board Presidents, said. “The Vocal Music Parent Association has already signed deals for a soccer dart attraction, jousting and a floating ball game… As for Choir board, we plan on having two game booths and one food booth, selling pumpkin pie [and] hot chocolate. We also have sliders walking around campus during the night.”

One of the major highlights of Fall Fest is the annual Troubadour Haunted Maze, which is also organized by the Vocal Music Program.

“[The annual Troubadour haunted Maze] will be set in an abandoned ghost town filled with gory scarers,” Doan said. “Tickets will be sold separately from Fall Fest Admission… in front of the choir room during Fall Fest.”

FVHS United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF)

“Our booth is planning to sell nacho fries, with toppings available, and passion fruit drinks,” senior Tracy Nguyen, the president of FVHS UNICEF, said. “All of the proceeds we receive from tickets will be donated to the UNICEF USA organization, which is a humanitarian aid organization that protects the rights of children worldwide by providing proper health care, education, etcetera for countries in need.”

California Scholarship Federation (CSF)

“For Fall Fest, we were planning on selling garlic noodles and a watermelon drink. Since Fall Fest is a six-hour event, we wanted to keep it fairly simple and ensure that the food is properly kept warm,” senior Karen Tran, co-president of CSF, said. “The drink is a mixture between Yakult, Sprite and watermelon juice and is super refreshing to get after exploring the festival.”

National Alliance on Mental Health (NAMI) and FVHS Oxfam

“NAMI plans to collaborate with Oxfam to sell hanami dango, which is tricolored mochi on a stick… We’re [also] doing matcha bingsu with strawberries, grass jelly, pocky, condensed milk, and matcha and vanilla ice cream as toppings,” junior Emma Pham, the president of NAMI, said. “We will be donating 20% of our proceeds to the Trevor Project, or another nonprofit. You’d also be supporting Oxfam [by visiting our booth], which fights poverty injustices.”

Make-A-Wish (MAW)

“Make-A-Wish plans to continue our tradition of selling fresh pandan waffles, also known as Vietnamese green waffles. We will also be adding Che Thai, a Vietnamese fruit cocktail, to our menu,” senior Hilary Nguyen, president of MAW, said. “This year we are focusing heavily on the quality of our foods, the quality of our prices and the quality of our booth’s aesthetics.”

To join in on the festivities, wristbands and tickets for Fall Fest admission can be purchased at the front entrance by supervision.

One admission wristband and a ticket can be purchased for $5, one admission wristband and seven tickets can be purchased for $10, and one admission wristband and 15 tickets can be purchased for $15. Admission is free for ages ten and under, not including tickets. Additional tickets for food and activities can be purchased from members of the Vocal Music Parent Association.

If you would like to support the participating clubs and enjoy a spooky night, be sure to stop by during the duration of the festival, from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m.
