You load up Khan Academy, prepared to tackle an assignment within minutes. Instead, you are met with an irritating gray circle on the first question, indicating that you have answered it incorrectly.

In pursuit of perfection, you blast through the next few questions without a glance, all so that you can start over. Again and again, you want to give up but your undying quest for perfection forces you to persist. At this point, you have clicked the “skip for now” or ‘“move on” button at least a thousand times. If only there was a way to start over without going through all this trouble…

Well, your days of agony are over. The Khan Academy “Start over” button is here.

The Khan Academy “Start over” button allows users to return to the start of an exercise, quiz or unit test without the hassle of having to skip through all the remaining questions. Unfortunately, this new feature is not available on the mobile app version of the software, but the addition is a significant improvement nonetheless.

By implementing this new feature, Khan Academy hopes that it will keep users motivated while learning and prevent the fear of their Mastery progress from being negatively affected.

The new “Start over” button has already improved the learning experiences of many people in the Khan Academy community, as well as students at Fountain Valley High School.

“Rather than prioritizing my answer streak to get 100% on the assignment, I started focusing more on the individual questions,” junior Madison Dinh said. “The start-over button changes my all-or-nothing mindset regarding my homework assignments, allowing me to focus on my learning.”

When comparing the time it took to complete an assignment before the addition and after, Dinh mentioned its accessibility.

“Rather than the normal 40 minutes that I spend to do a 16-question assignment, the time has cut down to approximately 20 minutes or less,” Dinh said.

With this new feature, users save a monumental amount of time and are able to both work and learn efficiently. Instead of focusing on cycling through the quiz or test questions, users can immediately start over after missing a problem and focus on accuracy.

The never-ending problem of Khan Academy has now been solved!
