The grand in the Grand Canyon is certainly an understatement. Even though I have been told that the Grand Canyon was huge, I never understood how large it actually is until I actually visited it.

When I first peered over the edge and saw the canyon in its entirety I was in awe about how big and beautiful it really is. Even though pictures of the Grand Canyon show its size, it is only when you get there that you realize it certainly lives up to its status as one of the Seven Wonders of the World.

The combination of the colorful layers of rock along with the vastness of the canyon gives a unique view to everyone who visits.

The Grand Canyon is a mile deep, 277 miles long and 18 miles wide and is estimated to have formed over six million years ago. There are two entrances to the park but the South Rim entrance is the best one due to its superior viewpoints and better experience.

So, the next time you are considering going on a road trip, take a visit to the Grand Canyon. Whether you want to hike down to the bottom or just take pictures along the rim, it is something you should see at least once in your life, I guarantee you won’t regret it.
