COMIC: Watch out … FVHS baby plants on board!

Based on a true story

On Aug. 28, 2023, teachers and students planted a total of 18 California native plants in front of the English halls. While the plants initially began to thrive, they encountered trouble after the school year began.

As the weeks passed, I noticed how some of the plants appeared flattened and dusty. Moreover, students kept throwing their trash into the planters, despite the availability of trash cans just a few feet away. However, the real shock came on Halloween. I swung by to check up on the plants and saw our mangled olive tree on the ground.

While plants can’t talk or do Calculus homework, their lives are still precious. If they are just given the time to thrive, they will make the entire space green and lovely in less than a year. We trust that our readers aren’t the type of students to do this. But if you see anyone trampling on these plants … kindly tell them to step out of the planters!

We don’t want another Olive episode. Barons, be kind!
