Here are your morning announcements for Friday, September 30th:

Congratulations to the Girls JV golf team for their eight shot victory over Estancia on Wednesday. The Barons were led by Gina Christianson and Cassidy Johnson.  Way to go Barons!

Congratulations to the Cross Country Team!  The Boys finished in 1st place in their first Sunset League Meet, Senior Jay Bonthius finished in 4th to lead the Barons.  The Girls finished in 2nd place.  They were led by sophomore Amber Bragdon who finished in 6th place.  And a big Congrats to both Varsity teams for defeating Edison.

Hey Barons, come to the Homecoming Game tonight at Huntington Beach High School.  Come watch your Barons take on Trabuco Hills, both teams are 3 and 1.  Also see who you selected as this year’s Homecoming King & Queen.  Kick Off is at 7:00pm.  If you have a Super Baron or ASB card, show your ID at the gate and get in free!  Go Barons, beat the Mustangs!

The Baron4Life Raffle for $50 gift cards is today @ lunch in The Bowl.  Get there early, bring your friends, and listen for your name…  This is gonna’ be awesome!

Seniors in Mr. Arnold’s SAT Prep class… our next meeting is this Sunday in the Cafeteria @ 9am. That’s Sunday, NOT Saturday here in the FVHS cafeteria.  Bring your books and calculators, and we’ll see you all Sunday morning!

Attention artists and writers! The Constitutional Rights Foundation is sponsoring a courtroom artist and court reporter competition through the Mock Trial competition. Artists and writers interested in competing should see Ms. LaFramboise in room 131 by September 30th.

The PSAT Test are on sale online at the FVHS Student store through Oct. 13 or at the Financial Office from Oct. 3-13th. The cost of the test is $21. If you have any questions see Mrs. Wakeman in the Career Center. (end 10/7)

Congratulations to the frosh/soph team for their 14 to 4 victory over JSerra.  The following players won all 3 sets Marianne Thio, Mimi Chen, Teresa Lu, Gabi Caouvy, Ashley Romero, Kim Kha. Great job Barons!

Congratulations to the Varsity Girls Golf team for their 1st place finish in the King High School golf tournament. Freshman Lilia Vu won individual honors shooting a 71. Sally Kim, Katherine Tengan, Jasmine Lieu and Jesse Giese also contributed to the victory.

Barons 4 Liiiiiiiife….  Listen up guys, this is important.  Our first Baron 4 Life Rewards Raffle is scheduled to take place on Friday, during lunch, in The Bowl.  If you haven’t done so already, please check the front of The Supervision Office and find your name on the Baron 4 Life September Roster. You need to know if you’ve been nominated, otherwise you might miss out on your $50 gift card.  So, here’s the deal:   On Friday, Mr. Arnold and ASB will be calling out 10 names selected completely at random.  Barons, you’ll have exactly 3 minutes to report to The Bowl and claim your prize… if you’re not there, a new name will be called and you’ll have missed your chance.  That’s really all there is to it!  So eat lunch in The Bowl on Friday, and make sure you have some friends listening for your name.  And even you haven’t been nominated, join us for the celebration, because it might be your name pulled out of the drawing next month!

Attention, teachers, if you have not signed up for Just Dance yet, you can just come to the gym tomorrow to participate! Hope to see you all there!

Seniors in Mr. Arnold’s SAT PREP CLASS on Saturdays… This is just a quick reminder that there will be class on Sunday, October 2, 2011.  That’s right… class is on Sunday this week because of the real SAT offered on Saturday.  Keep doing your homework guys, and we’ll be sure to see you in the cafeteria this Sunday.

Please join us for an informational meeting about Comedy Sportz. This is a great opportunity for you to learn comedic/improv techniques and compete with other high schools. Here are your morning announcements for Friday, September 23rd:

Congratulations to the Freshman football team on their victory 35 to 0 over Downey.  The entire defense played exceptionally well posting their first shut out of the season The defense was lead by both middle linebackers Stone Escobedo and Hunter Margain with exceptional play from Zito. The offense was lead by Johnny McWhorter throwing a pair of touchdowns to Ryan Finley and great offensive line play from Cole Chambers, Andrew Scott, Ennis Khaleq, Noah Jarvis, and Lucas Gomez.

Yesterday the JV Football team exhibited another offensive spectacle for the home crowd, winning 34 to 18.  The offensive line steam-rolled over the Downey Vikings defense, wearing them out by the fourth quarter.  It appeared the Barons had a running back university led by Andrea Gywnn, Kamil Bundoji, Roy Asuega and Ricky Reyes.  The defense held strong late in the game with two key interceptions by the “lil sharks”.  Good job Barons… B4L!

Tonight your mighty Barons Varsity team travels to Downey.  Come support your Barons, kick-off is at 7:00pm.  Go Barons!

Congrats to varsity field hockey on their 2-0 victory over Chaminade High School.  Dakota Griggs and Emily Brucelas each scored a goal while Alex Capuano had the shut-out as goalie.  Good luck against Louisville on Thursday!

Congratulations to the girl’s golf team for their upset victory over the 5th ranked Edison Chargers. The team was led by Senior Jasmine Lieu, juniors Sally Kim, Jesse Giese, Katherine Tengan and freshman Lilia Vu. Way to go Barons.

The 2011 Homecoming Court is posted in the Activities Window.  All Court members, there is a mandatory meeting in the Activities Office today at lunch.

The Baron Football Team have a great win over Corona 28 to 10 last Friday night.  The defense was led by Jason Baker as the Barons defense smothered Corona all night.  Offense was led by Sean Myers who caught two touchdown passes form Chris d’entremont.  Christian Calvillo and Mason Clevenger led the team in rushing.  A great performance by the Baron Football Team… Go Barons!

Congratulations to Girls Tennis.  The Frosh/Soph Team beat JSerrra 12 to 6.  Jessie Haas won all her single matches.  Varsity and JV beat Rosary.  The Varsity won 12 to 6 with Thao Pham winning all her matches and the JV won 16 to 2.  Go Barons!

Congratulations to the Frosh Football Team on a great win 42 to 20 against Corona High School.  Led by Hunter Margain, Jacob and Abraham Rodriguez the defense dominated the second half.  Great Win Barons!

Congratulations to the JV Football team who dominated the visitng Corona Panthers in a stunning 21 to 16 victory.  The Baron offense could not be stopped thanks to Logan Choat, Kyle Smith, Sam Bingham, Nick Franks, Cody Erb, and John Salvador.  The Baron defense clinched the victory with interceptions by Jared Alchin and Steven Shultz.  Thanks for all the staff and students who came out to support your Barons…. Barons for Life!

Girls Volleyball won on all three levels last night in their first home game against Brethren Christian. With Varsity winning 3-0.  Nicole Pletkovic led the team with 11 kills, Morgan Billbruck had 30 assists and Natalie Beradino led the team in passing.

The FVHS Drama Club presents The Actor’s Nightmare,a hilarious one act play being  performed today at  3:30 and 7:00.  Come to the theatre after school or see Mrs. Jerabek or Mr. Zick for tickets.  You won’t want to miss it.

The FVHS Foundation and Revolution Prep will be holding a practice SAT this September 17th from 9am to 1pm in the Media Center.  To sign up, go to www.revolutionprep.com.  Cost is only $20.00

Congratulations to the Girls Varsity Golf team for their 50 shot victory over Estancia. The Barons were led by Jesse Giese who shot a career best 36. The Girls JV Golf team defeated Estancia by 8 shots.  They were led by Kasey Reeves and Allison Baker.  Good job lady barons!

Come to this year’s first GAME of the WEEK!  Baron Football vs. San Clemente, Thursday night at Westminster High School.  Kick off is at 7:00pm.  It is also Parent Appreciation night, so show your Baron Spirit and come to the Game!  Go Barons!

Boys Basketball will be holding try-outs this week.  Freshman, Sophomores & JV tryouts will be this Wednesday, September 7th at 6:00 and Saturday morning at 8:00am.

There is a baseball meeting at the varsity baseball field for returning JV, Varsity and 6th period Freshman baseball players.  Meeting will be after 5th period today.

All female students interested in swim, please meet on the pool deck today, September 6th either during 6th period or after.  I’ll go over the practice schedule and who will be included in the off-season swim class.

All students must have a school-issued lock on their ASSIGNED locker by Friday, September 9th.  Any student found to be using a locker not assigned to them will lose their locker privileges for the school year.  All unlocked lockers after September 9th will be confiscated by supervision and reissued to a student who was not assigned a locker.  Please come to the supervision window at lunch if you do not have a locker and would like one.

If you purchased a Super Baron or ASB Card and have not gotten the sticker on your ID card please stop by the Financial Office to do so.  A Super Baron or ASB Card gets you in to all HOME Football, Basketball, Volleyball and Wrestling matches for FREE.  Show your card at the gate.  If you DON’T have a  Super Baron or ASB Card each game is $8….so take advantage of this great deal.  Also, with the Super Baron you received a yearbook at the end of the year.  Look for the games schedules posted at the Financial Office Window.  GO BARONS!!

Freshman, if you haven’t already gotten a planner, they are on sale for $5.00 at the Financial Office this week.

Freshman… looking to get involved?  Join Honors Commission, applications are in the Activities Office right now and are due next Wednesday, September 7th.

Anyone enrolled in after school 7th period production class, there is an informational meeting after school in room 309.

Want to get more involved in school? Join Senate!  Applications are available in the Activities Office and online at fvhs.com.  The deadline to submit your application is next Wednesday, Sept. 7th.

 

Attention all sophomores, juniors, and seniors,  many of you have not returned your textbooks from last year.  Please look around at home, in your bedroom, or in your car for textbooks and return them as soon as possible.  We need the books for other students.  At this time there isn’t a fine for returning textbooks late.   Soon we will begin applying late fines for books that have not been returned on time.  Take advantage of the opportunity now to return any books you have, without receiving a late fine.
