Nothing But the Beat

“Nothing But the Beat” is the 5th album by a famous French DJ recorder named David Guetta.  It was released on August 26, 2011 through Virgin Records. “Nothing But The Beat” includes many genres such as R&B, hip hop, and pop.  The album featured many popular artists such as Lil Wayne, Usher, Jennifer Hudson, Chris Brown, Timbaland,  Snoop Dog, Flo Rida, Taio Cruz, Akon, Ludacris, and others. Nothing But the Beat has reached to the top 100 in the US and two of his songs have hit top 100 on the radio such as “Where Them Girls At Feat. Flo Rida and Nicki Minaj”  and  “Without You Feat. Usher.” The album contains 13 tracks that talk about the DJ, R&B, Hip hop, and Pop world when we “party with nothing but beats.”

“ Nothing But the Beat” is referred to as the sick beats that DJ’s play in the night clubs.  The beats are strong enough to make a dancers’ body flow with the music.  The lyrics are hypnotizing with words that bring the listeners to the mood of the minds that are traveling in the wild rock world.

The “Nothing But the Beat” album opens with a track called “Where Them Girls at feat. Flo rida and Nicki Minaj”, which tells us about where the girls are and who they are.  It also shows us why there are girls and why there are so many of them in this world.  The line “ Where Them Girls at” refers to where those girls are.

“Without you feat. Usher” is a song about a person who is miserably lonely without his friend.  His friend was always there for him and helped him in any problem but now his friend is no longer around him.  The feeling of loneliness combined with the voices of singers, Usher and DJ player David Guetta, show us the misery and sadness that someone can feel when they lose a significant person in their life.

The album got many mixed reviews with positive and negative critics. Overall, the album got a review of 57/100. Many gave good reviews because the album had a lot of good singles with some great hot artists.  However, there was quite a significant amount of bad reviews because there were other party music competitors that were better like “Party Rock”  by LMFAO.

This album has been up on the top 100 on Billboard and iTunes of 2011.  It is difficult to not hear the songs on the radio since they are played so often.
