On Friday, May 4th, Fountain Valley girls and boys were entering the Sunset League championship meet ranked 4th. With significant time drops and amount of swimmers who qualified for finals, the girls outscored Newport Harbor by 26 points. Taylor Johnson (’12), Jaime Dang (’13), Jennifer Schulman (’13), Sonia Djafri (’13), Makenna Dubois (’14), Meredith Lightbody (’14), and Katelyn Farrow (’14) each contributed to the 3rd place score.
The boys sought to hopefully upset Newport Harbor as well, but the Sailors were still a strong team despite the loss of several graduating seniors in past years. Boys that helped lead the team past Huntington Beach and Marina included Alex Kryger (’12), Cory Nguyen (’13), Connor Halsted (’12), Alex Nguyen (’12), Joe Favreau (’13), Christopher Dang (’14), Tyler Bernardin (’13), and Dalton Kenefick (’14).
