Havoc on 405

Thursday, a power line fell on the 405 backing up traffic on the freeway for miles.

The freeway was stopped on both sides. People began to play tennis and skateboard on the open lanes as Highway Patrol and police officers directed cars to go backwards into the on ramps, causing massive congestion throughout the surrounding area.

The downed power line also meant no power for nearly 2,500 customers of Southern California Edison. With helicopters  flying overhead and reporters on the bridge over the freeway, you would think the President was here. (In fact, President Obama was actually at George Clooney’s house Thursday, in Studio City.)

At 4:30 PM The Northbound and Southbound lanes started releasing cars. No major injuries were reported in the incident.
