Boys Varsity Water Polo faced a tough season but secured a 10-17 record. Though the Barons lost more than half their games, the wins they did secure were very impressive in sportsmanship and individual skill.

The boys started off their season at the end of August with a loss to Capistrano Valley 9-19 but steadily improved with victories against Yorba Linda, Santa Margarita, Pacifica, Santa Monica, Poway, Buena, Notre Dame/Sherman Oaks, Marina, La Quinta, and San Juan Hills with a two point difference or more.

At the last game of the year, the boys fought a hard league game and narrowly lost to Edison with a score of 8-9. Despite the loss, many players shone. Chad Halsted (’14) had 15 saves with Cole Ekman (’13), Kyle Bresnau (’14), Dalton Kenefick (’14), and Connor Reilly (’14) scoring for Fountain Valley.

Taking the energy from their close victory, the boys are even more determined to turn it around next season. “Next year we will be weightlifting constantly and a lot of the guys will be going to club,” said Kenefick. “It was a good season overall.”
