During winter break, Girls Soccer ended their preseason with a tie against University and started league play with a loss against Huntington Beach.

University came out in the first half aggressive and managed to score a goal, ending the half. The Barons fought back coming into the second half and Kasey Reeve (’15) slid her shot underneath the goalie to even the score.

In their first league game, the girls lost 3-2 in a battle against Huntington Beach.

The Barons scored first on a goal by Madison Gomez (’13) on a cross from Kasey Reeve (’15). Huntington Beach scored shortly after to tie the Barons going into halftime.  Huntington Beach found the back of the net coming into the second half, scoring two early goals on the Barons making the score 3-1. The girls scored a late 2nd half goal by Addie Espinosa (’13) from a pass by Dakota Griggs (’13), but time ran out before they could even up the score.

Varsity Goalkeeper Alison Marlow (’15) said, “We should have won our game. We definitely need to practice on finishing all of our crosses and shots.”

The next league game for the girls is at home on January 8th against Newport Harbor.
