Girls tennis had their first home game against Mater Dei High School last Wednesday and lost, 4-14.

The girls played well in their matches. Singles Demi Dang (’14) won 6-1, Katie Ho (’17) won 7-5, and Ruth Nguyen (’16) won 6-2. Doubles Vivian Le (’16) and Clarissa Htay (’17) won their doubles match, 6-3.

“Mater Dei’s tennis girls are very experienced compared to Fountain Valley tennis girls,” said tennis coach Harshul Patel. “Most of Mater Dei’s players started playing tennis when they were very young, so it is reasonable that we came a little short yesterday.

“In a few games, we could have done better but it is still preseason; we have some time to improve and put out our best efforts to win in future games.”

The girls plan to work hard at their future games. Their next match will be against Foothill High School on Monday, Sept. 16 at 3 p.m.
