Barons fall short at annual Bell Game

The Barons faced off against the Edison Chargers in the most anticipated game of the year last Friday, but fell short of earning back the Bell, making this the ninth loss in a row for Fountain Valley.

Although many Barons were looking forward to a good game, as FV was seeded to at least play competitively in this year’s rivalry game, FV was blown away by Edison’s outstanding defense and strong offense. They pushed through our defensive lines to break away for three touchdowns over the course of the evening, but held firm against our own Baron offense.

Fortunately, though, Baron spirit never wavered. Despite the loss looming ahead for Fountain Valley, the Loud Crowd continued to cheer to the very end, dressed in white to match the boys and waving balloons vigorously to demonstrate their dedication to their school.

“Even though we lost, we beat Edison in spirit,” said ASB President Tricia Vuong (‘14). “I’ve even heard from Edison students that they were impressed with our attendance, attire, and cheers.”

The next football game will be against Los Alamitos on Thursday, Nov. 7. Kick-off is at 7 p.m. Students who wish to attend may ride a rooter bus to the game, leaving FVHS at 5:30 p.m., for free (after a $5 refund).
