Here are your morning announcements for Friday, November 22nd:          

The mock trial team competed again last night in round 4. The defense team crushed Corona Del Mar’s prosecution, bringing our record to 3 and 1. Recognized for awesome performances during Round 3 on Tuesday were Hillary Tran, Jacqueline Nguyen, and Nathan Davis. Due to last nights win, mock trial is PLAYOFF-BOUND and will compete again December 3rd! Congratulations mock trial on your dedication and success!

Freshman! You and your parents are invited to our Explore Test Results Evening on Tues. Dec. 3 at 6:30pm in the Cafeteria. Mr. Michael Graeml will walk us through the test interpretation and results. If you have any questions please come to the Career Center (end 12/2)

Seniors, the UC and Cal State Applications are due this Saturday Nov. 30th. This due date is over Thanksgiving break If you need help, support or have any questions now is the time to ask. Look at the applications today and come to the Career Center if you have any questions. (end 11/22)

Juniors & Seniors don’t miss a great opportunity:  Earn High School Credit taking a fun and challenging ROP course?  Gain experience and knowledge in your chosen career field before you graduate from high school.  Get skills and training that will show your dedication and commitment to your career path on college applications and job resumes.  It is not too late to sign up for a spring 2014 ROP class.  Sign up before all the excitement of the holidays sets in.  For questions or to sign up see Ms Sanders in the Career Center.

Express your holiday spirit by participating in the annual Red Cross Toy Drive. Toys must be between $8 and $12, unwrapped, new, for children 12 and under, and nonviolent. Toy drive boxes can be found in your English classroom and the class that donates the most toys wins a donut party! The Toy Drive ends December 6 so don’t forget about others when you are shopping during this holiday season.

Hey barons!  Today is the last day to sign up for The Ping pong tournament!  Sign at lunch by the activities officey. Bring five dollars to sign up. All Staff are welcome to participate!

That’s the theme for Grad Night 2014, and this year’s Contest for Best Art Design has begun!  We need a drawing depicting our theme and as usual, we’ll be giving the student with the winning design a free ticket to the 2014 Grad night Party!  Fliers outlining this contest are available at the Activities office or on our website atwww.fvhsgradnight.com.  Good luck, Senior Barons!!

Here are your morning announcements for Wednesday, November 20th:         

The FVHS Surf Team won their final competition against Marina on Tuesday.  We had several standout 1st place finishes from John Hoyt, Kaden Bruner, and Eric Tello.  Other notable finishes were Riley Donohoo, Colleen Millican, Aly Johns, Dustin Santana, Jonathan Holbrook and Shane Cupp with their 2nd place finishes.  Receiving 3rd place with some great surfing were Mackenzie Kohanek, Kekoa Jensen, Dustin Santana, Noah Hafen and Ian Hunter.  Great job surf team!

Congratulations to golfer Kat Foster for making the all Sunset league academic team. Way to go Kat!

The Mock Trial Prosecution team put up a good fight last night at the county courthouse, but the Foothill Knights Defense prevailed. Jacqueline Nguyen, Josh Tran, and Austin Jenkins were recognized for putting forth outstanding performances. Good luck Thursday at round 4, mock trial!

CLUB ANNOUNCEMENTS

Hey Barons! There’s a brand new club in town!   UNITING THE COMMUNITY OF FOUNTAIN VALLEY.  It’s a club devoted to the needs of Fountain Valley and neighboring cities.  There’s plenty of room for you and we have innovative ways to help our community.  We need board members and members, so check us OUT in Ms. Chaicharee’s room this Friday in Room 405.  We really hope to see you there!

Here are your morning announcements for Monday, November 18th:         

History has been made with our incredible Marching Band…  FV is still undefeated after Saturday’s huge Tournament in Anaheim.  FV walked away with yet another Sweepstakes beating all Bands, and winning best Color Guard, best Percussion, best Visual Effect, best Marching, and best Music Effect.  This puts FV in the #1 seed for Championships this coming Saturday in Riverside.  FV has never had an undefeated season in the history of the school.  Good Luck to our Royal Regiment as they perform their Water World show at 9:12pm Saturday in the SCSBOA State Championships.  This will be Mr. Wampler’s last tournament and Championships before retirement in January.  Good job FVRR, we are proud of every members.

Cross Country boys competed in the CIF Preliminaries at Mt. San Antonio College where they finished 2nd in their heat to advance to the CIF Championships this Saturday.  Robert Osorio led the team by winning the race in 15:11, Galyn Nash finished 3rd in 15:19, David Abraham was 9th in 15:36, Hunter Gulino placed 22nd in 16:07, William Hua placed 24th in 16:09, Kenneth Barrios was 50th in 16:43, and Alan Loi rounded out the top seven running 17:39. The boys smashed the school record for team time on this course running 78 minutes 22 seconds.  They will need to finish top 7 overall this Saturday (at Mt. San Antonio College again) to advance to the CIF State Championships in Fresno which would be the first time in school history.

If you are planning on riding the rooter bus and haven’t turned in your permission slip or deposit, please do so by lunch!

Congratulations to the Mock Trial team who unanimously won last nights round against Segerstrom High School. The domination of defense was led by Christine Le in pre trial and Vi Pham, Ashley Ramos, and Elissa Wu as trial attorneys. Anthony Cort, Gina Le, Grace Chien, and Anthony Mundi rocked the witness stand and Maria Gomez and Claire Pritchard were outstanding as clerk and bailiff. Congratulations mock trial and good luck in round 3!

The ONLY Saturday School this month is TOMORROW!  Be in the cafeteria by 7:30 am with homework and a book to read.  Saturday Shcool ends at 11:45.  Don’t be late!

Fountain Valley surfed against Huntington Beach HS in a very challenging competition yesterday. Congratulations to Ally Johns for 2nd place for Women’s Longboard, Colleen Millican for 3rd place for Women’s Shortboard and John Hoyt for 3rd place in his Men’s Shortboard heat.

A huge congratulations to Chris Diep, and Anthony T. Nguyen for both receiving the coveted gavel this past weekend at UCLA Model United Nations.  This is the highest honor bestowed upon our delegates at a conference with over 1000 participants.  Great job Barons!

Congratulations to the Mock Trial team who WON their round against El Dorado High School last night. The prosecution team was awesome. Hillary Tran, Austin Jenkins Jar-Yee Liu,  and Pauline Nguyen were attorneys with authority and Jacqueline Nguyen, Josh Tran, Vi Dang, and Nathan Davis were wonderful witnesses and Anthony Cort was our fantastic clerk. Hey Barons, Girls Volleyball will be traveling to Orange Lutheran tonight at 7:00pm for the first round of CIF… Pre-Sale Tickets are on sale now at the Financial Office.  If you would like to ride on the bus to the game, come by and pick up a permission slip and leave your $5.00 deposit.  You must bring a signed permission slip with you to board the bus.  Space is limited to 20 students.

Here are your morning announcements for Friday, November 8th:         

Congratulations to Varsity football on their thrilling victory last night over Los Alamitos 10-7. The Barons wrapped up third place in the Sunset League and are headed to the playoffs!! Check out fvhsfootball.com on Sunday to find out who we meet in the first round of the playoffs next Friday.

Congrats to JV football on a strong season; the JV finished 4-6 on the year and unfortunately dropped a tough game on Wednesday 21-7 to Los Al. Good job Jayvees!

Attention all of the Rooter Bus Riders, please remember to stop by the Financial Office to pick up your refundable $5.  And by the way, the loud crowd was totally “awesome” last night!  Thanks so much for bringing the FV spirit to the football game!

FVHS Surf Team competed against Edison on Thursday morning at Edison’s home break.  There was some outstanding surfing by FVHS but surfing at your home break has it’s advantages and the Chargers came out on top.  Top finishers include Aly Johns and Eric Tello each with second place finishes; and Sage Oosterhof and Kaden Bruner with third place finishes.  Congratulations and keep up the great surfing!

Clearance Day for all soccer players is Tuesday, Nov 12th at 2pm outside of activities.

Attention Sophomores and Juniors!  Golden West College has invited you to participate in the Chicano/Latino College Day on Friday, November 15 from 8:00 to 2:30.  In this event, you will have the opportunity to attend motivational presentations and informational workshops.  If you would like to attend this field trip, please sign up with Ms. Doan in the Administration Office today.

Here are your morning announcements for Friday, Nov. 1:   

Congratulations to boys JV water polo on their victory against Edison yesterday. Silly Chargers… take off your floaties and try to beat our Barons!

Yesterday at the other school down the street, the football team battled the Chargers for 48 minutes but were not victorious.  Today out at the Dave Fitzpatrick Field, the Barons will attempt to avenge their loss from yesterday during the District Football game at 2:45.  The game could turn out to be a great undercard for the big game tonight.   Next week the Barons are traveling to Los Al to play the Griffins for a shot at second place in the sunset league.

This is the last day to buy FVHS Theatre season tickets! For $40 you can get a ticket to all three shows and you also get free admission to all showcases, improv shows and the gala party. You also get to choose which show and your seat before the tickets go on sale to the general public. This price is open to everyone. To purchase a ticket, please include cash or check for $40 and your name, phone number and email in an envelope and put it into the black mailbox hanging inside the theatre room, or you can call Laura Flores at (714) 963-5377. Season Tickets are being sold through this Friday, Nov. 1. Hope to see you at the show!

Attention sophomores and juniors!  Golden West College has invited you to participate in the Chicano/Latino College Day on Friday, November 15 from 8:00 to 2:30.  In this event, you will have the opportunity to attend motivational presentations and informational workshops.  If you would like to attend this field trip, please sign up with Ms. Doan in the Administration Office, no later than Nov 4.  Space is limited.

Grad Night Party 2014 is looking for a small army of adult volunteers to continue providing a safe and sober graduation night for our Senior class.  Even if you don’t have a Senior, volunteers are needed to ensure that this fun-filled tradition continues at FVHS.  Grad Night’s next Booster meeting is Wednesday, November 7th at 7pm in the teacher’s lounge.  Many hands make light work–please come find out how you can help!  For more details check out our website at www.fvhsgradnight.com.

Hey Barons, the Bell Game is here!  Tonight’s game is a WHITE OUT, so don’t forget to wear your WHITE Bell Game t-shirts to the game tonight. If you didn’t get one be sure to wear anything WHITE.  Kick Off is at 7 p.m. at OCC; gates open at 5 pm.  Everyone must bring their ID with their ticket to the game.
