An attempted kidnapping of a female student took place the Friday before winter break.

A stranger in a gold Chevy van attempted to abduct a female student who was walking Northbound on Bushard and Warner on Dec. 13.  The student was alone, and she noticed that a van was following her.  The driver asked her to get in the car, and she refused. She escaped and immediately dialed 911. The driver left the area.

The female student notified supervision of the incident the Monday after the attack.  “That’s creepy and I’m glad the guy was unsuccessful,” said Principal Chris Hertzfeld. An event like this rarely happens within the suburban area of Fountain Valley. “I’m glad it is out of the ordinary,” said Herzfeld.

Supervision is still helping to keep with campus security by regularly locking back gates and checking vacant areas far off around campus. In response to this confrontation of a female student, the Fountain Valley police department is investigating the case and is looking into providing more security off campus after school. However, the FVPD could not be reached for comment.

Parents have been more wary to their children walking home from school. Students, as well, are more cautious about their surrounding as they return home after school.  “I was kinda shocked to why someone would ever do such a thing,” said Victor Nguyen (’16).
