FVHS choir performed at Calvary Church Dec. 17 for their holiday concert, titled “Deck the Halls with a Little Jazz.”

The choir sang many Christmas songs, including ”Deck the Halls” and “Frosty the Snowman.” The show featured dancing, acapella singing, and multiple solo performances. The show was directed and conducted by choir director Kevin Tison with assistance from Amy Joy Stephens.

The show was divided into two parts, the first of which focused more on upbeat Christmas songs with the second moving towards a more serious and solemn music.

Many students enjoyed the show, such as Thomas Mundi (’15), who said, “It was really good; it shows how far the choir has come. [It] shows how much they practice and trained.”

Choir members practiced every day during class from early October until the day of the show.

“The work definitely paid off. Les Chanteurs is a big choir so it is harder to perfect everything and we were finally able to create something beautiful,” said Calvin Chau (’15).

Concert choir member Emerald Nguyen (’15) said, “All the groups did really well overall. All of us have improved since the last concert and the songs were really fun to sing.”

The concert was also filled with a few moments of audience participation, such as when the audience members stood up to sing “O Come All Ye Faithful” and when FVHS alumni were called onto the stage to join concert choir in singing “Hallelujah Chorus.”

Choir’s next concert, titled “Impressions,” will be at Shoreline Church March 31 at 7 p.m. and will consist of spring-themed music.
