Baron baseball swings a win

The Baron baseball team brought home a close cut win against Los Alamitos on March 21.

The Barons started out the first few innings strong. Despite the loud cheers coming from Los Alamitos, the team fought back in encouragement and kept a strong lead. Ryan Foster as the starting pitcher played exceptionally well, giving the opposing team a tough time making a hit.

The hits were clean and the Barons were quick on the field as one by one ran past home plate. Los Alamitos provided a tough play back, but they players remained strong and kept the lead for the beginning of the game, holding up 2-0.

“It was a good game to start off our season,” said Ryan Foster (’17). “We played well.”

Though the game began to grow tough towards the end, with Los Alamitos making a painful comeback one inning. The Barons struggled to keep the onslaught of scores at bay, and managed to keep the damage minimal as they fought back just as hard. Los Alamitos was able to tie, but with a strong swing, Andrew Sanchez managed to make the final hit and winning score for the Barons.

“That last hit was amazing,” said Blake Mielke (’17).

Winning the game with a score of 5-4, the Barons started off the Sunset League games with a close, but strong win.
