Fourth of July Festive Foods

With all the unique ways food can be displayed, parties are the best time to show creativity and have some fun with with traditional treats. Here are five different ways to represent the colors red, white and blue for Fourth of July and add a visual delight to those plates.

Cupcakes

Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees

2. In a bowl: add cupcake mix, 2 eggs, 1 cup milk, 3 tablespoons of butter and stir

3. Add foil liners in a muffin pan and add the mix to each one

4. Bake for 15 to 17 minutes and cool for 3 minutes

5. Mix red and white frosting and add on top of a cupcake with a knife

6. Sprinkle blue decorated stars for a finishing touch

 

Jell-O Cups

A quick snack that takes less than five minutes for all ages to enjoy. Photo by Tara Choe

Instructions:

1. Boil water and put into a large bowl

2. Add strawberry Jell-O mix and mix for two minutes

3. Cool mix for at least three hours and then add into clear cups

4. Add whip cream on top of Jell-O and sprinkle blueberries

 

Shaped Watermelon

Instructions:

1. Cut watermelon into any shape desired

2. Stick fruit through a straw or skewer

 

Sugar Cookies

Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees

2. In a bowl stir: cookie mix, 2 eggs, 1 cup butter

3. Bake for 13 minutes and shape can be altered.

4. Decorate with adding sprinkles and frosting

 

Ice Cream Sandwiches

Instructions:

1. Take an ice cream sandwich and decorate with frosting on the side of the ice cream or on top of the cookie.
