FAQs About BBN

Thinking about joining BBN, but having multiple questions that you want to find out about? Look no further, here are some frequently asked questions that we get and the answers to them. Hopefully, these answer your questions; if not, feel free to come to room 306 for more questions.

What is BBN?

BBN is a community of students that are dedicated to producing videos every 2 weeks for the student body and teachers here at FVHS in order to spread the news of upcoming events or to evoke (often joyful) emotions through the videos that we send out. It is a class that is only held at 5th period and can go towards your art credits if you are in need of them. However, that should not be the purpose of you taking the class, and instead, you should come in with the motivation and mindset of working to the best of your abilities to produce your packages (your group’s videos) every two weeks.

So packages were mentioned… what exactly are they?

Packages are what we refer to us at each group’s individual videos, which when completed, are accessed by the producers and then put into the episodes. To make a great package, each group member should put in 100% of their effort into planning (via the planners that are attached to the Behind the Scenes of FVHS: The Game), filming, and editing, which can lead to creating an effective relationship between your group members as well.

We have to work in groups? Can we choose our own groups?

Since BBN is roughly around 16-18 minutes, there wouldn’t be enough time to include everyone’s package if they were to make them individually since packages often range around 2-3 minutes. Instead, we often break up into groups of 3, which helps alleviate stress from simply two members taking care of everything, as well as preventing one group member from not doing anything in a group of 4. While we usually get to choose our groups, there are times where our groups are randomly assigned. You might be having your doubts after hearing this: What if my group members don’t share the same ideas as me? or What if my group members don’t work? Take these experiences as preparations for your future – you’re bound to work with people that you may not agree with on everything or that don’t do as much work as you, in which you should display your own leadership and lead your group to success. This is the true essence of a BBN member – one who takes initiative and isn’t afraid to constantly learn.

How much work and effort does one need to put into BBN?

Overhearing some current members of BBN complain about the workload that they have may be off-putting, but don’t let that push you away. Yes, the workload can be a lot sometimes, but they depends on the size of the projects you take up. The more elaborate your package is, the more work and time you’ll have to dedicate to making it, though the result is always worth it in the end. However, it doesn’t always have to feel overwhelming if you manage your time properly and split the work among the group members that you work with.

Why are the transitions so sudden and why don’t they correspond with what the anchors are saying?

This may have been seen in the earlier episodes of season 17 when sports appear after other packages have been introduced, but the don’t worry, the producers have noticed, and in the most recent episodes, the anchors have been mentioning how sports will come before the next few packages.

Will I enjoy BBN?
