FVHS New School Policy

Are you aware of our new school rule?

Teachers are now not allowed to post grades publicly (as in, on the walls of the classroom) with students ID numbers. Some people, including this reporter, feel very strongly about this rule. Students and teachers have much to say.

“It sucks, I wish they did because I liked being able to know my grade and compare with other people to know if i needed to work harder or not.” states Sarah Miller, freshman.

Teachers agree.

” I don’t like it. I think the students like to see their grades posted publicly and also, not everyone has access to the internet. What are they supposed to do?” says Nannete Sweeting, French teacher.

This is a good question; and there is something they can do. Teachers are not allowed to post their students grades publicly

with ID numbers.  Teachers can, however, create another numbering or identification system; like assigning students class numbers and posting the grades with those. But how many teachers would be willing to change their policy? It is this reporter’s hope that teachers will take advantage of this loophole and change their system, for the best interests of their students.
