CSF does civic duty, volunteers in Pretend City

CSF volunteers having a good time.

Ten volunteers from FVHS’s CSF volunteered at Pretend City, a children’s museum, this past Saturday.

Pretend City is a children’s museum that provides kids with the opportunity to learn, be creative, and have fun. They use interactive exhibits and various activities to promote growth. Pretend City is also a nonprofit organization and is therefore funded by the community.

The CSF volunteers worked in a miniature city the museum had created for the children to explore. The ‘city’ included a beach, marina, cafe, and a grocery store. Each CSF volunteer was assigned a station for the event.

CSF member, Valerie Chang (’14) said, “We were supposed to play with the kids, but they just stared at us and ran off.”

“Overall it was a fun event,” said Chang.

Board member Elise Dang (’14) worked at the café and alternated between being a server and a customer. She also played in the sand and made sandcastles at the mock-beach with the children.

“The event was very fun and worthwhile,” she said. “I really loved how the museum was able to create a small city.”

Said Dang, “I would definitely come back again to help out!”
