On January 10, 2013, The Fountain Valley Girl’s Basketball team host Los Alamitos for their third sunset league game of the year. Los Alamitos swept past Fountain Valley by a huge margin, 70-47.

The Barons were enthusiastic throughout the first quarter, leaving Los Alamitos behind for a majority of the quarter. Fountain Valley never gained back the lead for the rest of the game, but continued to fight hard. The score was 36-18 with Los Alamitos up at halftime.

A major factor cutting into Fountain Valley’s performance was steals and violations. One-third of FV’s offensive possessions were taken away, especially by a thieving Neah Odom from Los Alamitos.

However, our girls fought back with steals of their own in the third quarter, trying hard to keep up with Los Alamitos and eventually get back the lead. The girls lost control and the game however, and Los Alamitos quickly gained 21 points in their last quarter, making the score 70-47.

Some girls that fought their hardest was Emily Krause who scored a season-high 14 points, and Jasmine Matar with 13 points.
